THE PRINCIPAL DIFFERENCE PRINCIPALS

Picture
Mrs. Maggie McMillion, Master of Education
Principal
I love learning! I want kids to love learning, too! In my experience as a principal and a teacher, I have observed that some kids struggle in school simply because the methods and setting that work for the majority, do not work for all students. Working one-on-one with your child to target a particular outcome and get the results he wants is very fulfilling. Our goal at The Principal Difference is to inspire optimism and confidence in your child by providing the learning skills to become an enthusiastic learner.

I would love to meet with you to discover how The Principal Difference can make a difference for your child! Our experience with students, our education and training in learning styles, educational curriculum, and child development give us a perspective that is unlike other tutoring practices.  I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Development at Pacific Christian College in Fullerton.  I also received a Master of Education degree from Hope International University, Fullerton. I hold certification from ACSI* as Educator/Principal All Levels and a State of California teaching credential. My career with children began as a pre-K teacher at Santa Ana College’s on-site lab school. Over the course of my career, I have worked  as a teacher in all levels from Kindergarten – 8th grade; a school principal; substitute teacher; and I've served as a school board member.

"Can you imagine how difficult it would be to struggle at your job, receive few compliments and little encouragement, have your co-workers laugh at you, and keep going back to the job, day after day, week after week? That's why I think some of the bravest people I've ever met are school children. It must be so hard to walk into a room where you feel like you cannot succeed."

Mrs. Debbie Baumgartner, MA Education
Vice Principal
My name is Debbie Baumgartner and I’m pleased to be your child’s Principal Difference Tutor! San Diego State University is where I earned both my B.A. and California teaching credential. I also have a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum & Instruction from Concordia University, Irvine. With fifteen years as a classroom teacher and tutor and eight more as Vice Principal and Director of Curriculum, I have a thorough knowledge of the K-8 curriculum.
During my time at several independent schools and as a private tutor, I’ve successfully reached a multitude of students within a wide spectrum of abilities. And because I have an extensive amount of experience working with students with a variety of learning styles, I “get it” that students have different ways of learning. Many kids reach their personal best via a variety of methods! Kids have different strengths and interests; why not let them operate within the style that works best for them?

“If I can simply recite ABC’s, memorize facts for a day or spend class time in unending testing but have not mastered  foundational concepts nor find any joy in learning, then my education is neither meaningful nor relevant.”
