FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is different about The Principal Difference?
We are professional educators who believe that children can enjoy academics and be successful learners when they are encouraged to work within their own learning style. We will work with your child according to their preferred style of learning, with the end goals being improved performance; study skills that produce successful outcomes; and enthusiasm for learning.

What is your teacher-to-student ratio?
Our teacher-to-student ratio of one-to-one teaching is most effective for customizing teaching that matches your child's learning style.

What is a learning session at The Principal Difference like?
The one to one learning session will be a time where your child has the complete attention of the teacher. During the learning session we will work toward accomplishing the agreed upon goals using your child’s school text books along with various other learning tools and resources that will help him to really understand the material.

What curriculum or materials do you use?
Primarily, we will work with the text books and curriculum that your child is using at school. Using the student’s school curriculum as a guideline, we may introduce supplementary materials and resources to compliment your child's learning style. This approach more quickly and directly improves performance and confidence in the classroom, and feels more like help rather than extra work.

Where is the teaching done?
Your child's learning sessions will be held at our location. We find that working with your child in a designated learning environment helps to limit distractions and serves to make the best use of our time together.

How often does my child meet with his teacher?
Typically the teacher meets with your child once or twice each week for 1-2 hours each session. The frequency will depend upon the student's needs as agreed upon by the teacher and parent.
